Let's rewrite yours in a way that makes you feel empowered, creative and able to handle when the sound guy does you dirty.
I GET IT. I've been in your shoes.
The trembling hands that seem to also knock your voice off-kilter.
Your heart beating like an EDM track, so fast you can't catch your breath.
That anxious little voice reminding you of all the lyrics, the high notes, the mistakes you need to avoid.
The frustration that YOU SHOULD BE OVER THIS BY NOW.
But I've also seen what happens when I and singers have been able to soften their experience of stage fright.
Stage fright is not simply something you can think your way out of in the moment
(not only because you lack access to your wise pre-frontal cortex, the part of your brain that can regulate your emotions).
You're dealing with a nervous system response that is connected to your thoughts, emotions, habits and beliefs - some of which are helpful and some which are wired for white knuckles and chaos.
Which is why the solution needs to be multi-faceted.
I'll hazard a guess that you no longer want to go on stage feeling like you have to prove yourself.
You want to feel grounded, open, connected and expressive.
You want to feel as though you can confidently share your interpretation, your preferences, your taste.
You want to move others and let yourself be moved in the moment too.
All of which happen as a byproduct of strengthened self-trust.
OKAY KIM, THAT SOUNDS WELL AND DANDY, BUT HOW?
You need a process that supports you in
✨ learning to tolerate and soften the physiological symptoms
✨ challenging and rewiring the unhelpful and outdated thoughts and beliefs
✨ tending to the nervous emotional parts of yourself
✨ shifting the actions you take and choices you make to build confidence (rather than erode it), and
✨ developing a strong sense of who you are as a singer and what you like.
That's why I created Healing Stage Fright as a two month guided experience.
To give you the time and the space to make this stuff stick.
Want to stop avoiding performing and sharing their voice because of their stage fright
Are excited to see who they are without their self-doubt
Are frustrated that their anxiety sabotages their voice
Wrestle with their inner critic (but aren't enjoying it)
Are looking for a holistic approach that doesn't push them in the deep end too soon
Are willing to commit to micro-performances through the program
My first encounters with stage fright happened in my teens. The more self-conscious I got as a young adult, the more my body would shake when all eyes were on me.
I would notice it intensify and ease off depending on the context, who was in the audience, how hard the songs were and how much pressure I felt under.
It wasn't as simple as "practice harder and feel better "which was the magic pill I was sold.
All of this became even clearer when I started teaching other singers, which I’ve been doing for over 20 years now.
When I decided to tackle the beast that is healing stage fright, I knew I needed to add more tools to my tool belt.
It was so clear that singers needed knowledge and support in handling sensation, not letting their inner critic run the show, tending to their scared parts and knowing how to practice and set up performances to feel more at ease.
I became a qualified counsellor in order to work effectively with the mental and emotional hurdles involved.
And have studied somatics and am completing a Somatic Parts Work certificate to ensure that the body and its sensations are taken into account and cared for.
In my opinion, healing stage fright must be done in a holistic way.
NOTHING BRINGS ME MORE JOY THAN GETTING EXCITED TEXTS FROM MY STUDENTS WHEN THEIR EXPERIENCE OF PERFORMING SHIFTS

Weekly go-at-your-own-pace trainings that cover the five pillars of
- physiological
- cognitive (thoughts and beliefs)
- emotional
- behavioural, and
- artistic taste.
Fortnightly (every two weeks) we gather for a live coaching call with the opportunity for singers to perform (if that is their chosen performance space).
The timing of these calls will be scheduled based on the timezones of those who join
Every weekend our group chat (via WhatsApp) is open for reflections, chats and questions.
The course space is also available for this throughout and for those without access to WhatsApp
Split payment will be charged a month apart
(Total price is approx £244, €280 and $329 USD)
The first week of content will drop into your course portal on October 12th and the final week will be December 7th.
The idea is to start with a performance situation that is the LEAST activating for you.
Everyone's idea of what a "low-stakes" performance is will look different.
For someone it might be singing in front of their partner or flatmate. For someone else it could be a karaoke night with friends. There will also be the opportunity to do it via Zoom in front of our small, supportive group too.
You get to choose what your performance situation is and we'll do one every two weeks. This is so you get to notice how your response is changing across the program.
You'll have access to the program and the coaching call recordings indefinitely. You'll also get access to any updates made to the program. The WhatsApp group/Q&A is the only piece that will close mid December.
I know life can get in the way of our best intentions sometimes, so just know that there's not that kind of time pressure in terms of moving through the program.
Ideally you'll still participate in doing a performance every two weeks but you can schedule this for when it works best for you.
